Day 1 Arrive in Paro, Bhutan - Thimphu

Today’s Highlights: The flight to Bhutan would offer you spectacular views of Indian Plane and the merger to Himalayan Range. The highest peaks would be laden with snows and landing to Paro itself is exhilarating.
This is the only country’s international airport, Paro and is believed to be one of the world’s most difficult airport. The flight soars through the Plane of India and while descent it offers you a panoramic view of the Himalayan beauty, please don’t get frightened as the plane would fly close to the mountain range and land with deep angle into the gorge of Paro.
The guide will meet you and drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. En route stop at Chuzom (confluence) where Paro River joins Thimphu River. Check into your hotel on arrival. After lunch, visit the famous Changlingmithang Stadium and archery field. If you are lucky, you may catch a game of archery in progress- otherwise visit the paper factory, Buddha Dordenma, Memorial Chorten (built in memory of the third King of Bhutan).

Day 2Sightseeing Around Thimphu

Today’s Highlight: Thimphu is the capital city of Bhutan and you get to see diverse elements of culture and modern influence. Thimphu has seen major changes in last decades but the policy of the Government had it that culture and tradition still remains intact.
Though there are many interesting places to visit, todays sightseeing would cover – Morning after breakfast visit Changangkha Monastery established in the 12th century (the central statue is Chenresig in an 11-headed, thousand-armed manifestation).
Later visit Zorig Chusum (Institute of crafts and arts), Royal Textile Academy and by afternoon you can stroll through Thimphu town and absorb the life style of the people, and later visit Tashichhoed Dzong, one of the best Dzong. Later dinner at Farm House.

Day 3Thimphu - Punakha (77KM, takes 3 hours)

Today’s Highlights: stop at Dochula Pass for a panoramic view of the Himalayan peak of Bhutan.
After breakfast, this morning, enjoy the scenic drive to Punakha with a stop for lunch at Dochu La Pass (3,100 meters), where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of the Himalayas. It also is a place where you see 108 small stupas dedicated to the Majesty of Bhutan and the fallen soldiers.
From the pass, drive downhill through the forests of rhododendron, fir and hemlock. You will arrive at Punakha after traversing through rice field and along the bank of Punakha River. On the way, you will stop at Metshina Village and take a 20-minute walk through the rice fields to Chimmi Lakhang, which is a fertility temple dedicated to Devine Madman or Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Receive a special fertility blessing from Lama’s wooden phallus if you wish.

Day 4Punakha Sightseeing

Today’s Highlight: The most elaborated Dzong and considered the most beautiful Dzong of Bhutan. Light Hike through Paddy field and villages.
Morning visit Pungtang Dechen Phodrang Dzong or commonly known as Punakha Dzong. It was constructed by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1637-38. It is the winter home of Bhutan’s Central Monastic Body. The Dzong houses the most sacred relics of the Southern Drukpa Kagyu school including the Rangjung Kasarpani, and the sacred remains of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Terton Padma Lingpa. It’s also known for the coronation of the kings of Bhutan. You may take your time inside the Dzong to see the beautiful and unique architect of Bhutan.
Later you would be driving towards the north of Punakha for an hour hike to Khamsum Yulled Namgyel Chorten, build by Her Majesty for the wellbeing all sentient Being. Overnight at Punakha.

Day 5Punakha – Paro (140 KM; 4 hours)

Today’s Highlight: Visit Nunnery at Punakha with panoramic view of Punakha and Wangdi District.
Morning visit Nunnery right above the ridge of Wolokha. Afterwards, drive via Thimphu to Paro.
After reaching Paro visit back to Paro and visit Museum (though the original structure is damaged by the earthquake important artifacts and items can be seen in the newly build museum), Kyichu Temple and Paro Dzong and later walk around Paro Town.
By evening, explore the interesting handicraft shops around Paro town.

Day 6Discovering Paro Valley

Highlights: Hike to Tiger’s Nest, the iconic symbol to the outside world and the most sacred place for all Bhutanese.
After breakfast, you will hike to Taktsang or the “Tiger’s Nest” Monastery perched precariously on the cliff 900m above Paro valley. It is the most famous monastery in Bhutan. Guru Rinpoche, the 8th century spiritual master is said to have flown on the back of tigress to meditate in a cave where Taktsang Monastery now stands. Lunch will be served in the Cafeteria Restaurant, located about halfway up on the mountain.
Explore the monastery, and if you wish, you can sit for a short meditation before you hike down to the valley floor. Optional would be visiting local farm house and spend around the paddy field to experience the Bhutanese style of Living.

Day 7Bid Farewell from Paro Airport

You will wake little early to fly Singapore. It fly’s from Paro at 07:30 and arrive at Singapore at 16:10.
Your discovery of Bhutan will end today. Have a safe trip back home.
